THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMENTARY ON AMERICAN HISTORY

Filmmakers Maarten Schmidt and Thomas Doebele went looking for Blues musicians and their successors, the rappers and hip hoppers. They traveled to the the origins of the Low Blues, the Mississippi Delta, the cotton fields of the American South and they discovered the raw City Blues in Washington DC. The Blues interpreters and hip hoppers relate in their music African-American history, slavery, love, poverty, discrimination, the war in Vietnam, Afghanistan, God, the current economic crisis and the expectations they have of the first black President, Barack Obama.
